Bauernwehr knife belongs to the family of so-called Langmessers.

It appears in the second half of the 15th century. Around 1470 it was already quite widespread and popular weapon among peasants, burghers and the lower nobility. It was most widespread in Switzerland, southern and central Germany and Austria.

We crafted this blade from POLDI spring steel 14 260 and harden them on 53 Rockwells blunt and 55 Rockwells sharp.

It appears in the second half of the 15th century. Around 1470 it was already quite widespread and popular weapon among peasants, burghers and the lower nobility. It was most widespread in Switzerland, southern and central Germany and Austria.

The length and width of the blade varies, from about 25 cm to 50 cm in some cases. It is characterized by the so-called protective thorn, but the knife may also appear without it. The handle is usually wooden, often also made of antler and then riveted (hollow rivets – rollnieten).
